New York Times' Ailurophobia Leads to Accusations of Feline Fake News

Image
Conspiracy Theories Ahoy!   Some tin foil hatted malarkey courtesy of The New York Times has dropped alleging pussy cats are the agents of no good and are spreading misinformation via memes and cute photographs. Whether they are correct or not in their accusations, this smacks of sour grapes that they didn't come up with the idea of advertising this way themselves.  Hypocrisy is also evident on the NYT's part as they are constructing conspiracy theories around the fact that these other publications are supposedly peddling conspiracy theories. It's all a never-ending circle of confusion and hearsay. The 2020s so far have been insane and it seems it's only going to get crazier. for original story go  here  or view screenshots below

Incredibly Slow News Day • Dateline: 1/12/21

STOP THE PRESSES! A revelation just to hand reveals that an actor has confessed that he hasn't seen a film he appeared in 15 years ago. The movie in question is  The Devil Wears Prada Seems like a man of taste. The reason why I'm saying "Seems like..." rather than "He is..." is due to the fact I also haven't had the pleasure (or misfortune) to give this 2006 production a viewing. Basing my opinion on the screenshot below, I'm in no particular hurry either.

HAMBURGLAR FACES COURT

Image
... and it only took five years to get him there. In November 2016, Patrick Councillor was feeling a little peckish and couldn't believe his luck. On the dashboard of a parked car was no plastic Jesus but a prime burger. He smashed the window, grabbed the cheeseburger and left his calling card in the form of blood which was eventually traced back to Councillor. He was tried for this misdemeanour only last week.  I hope the burger was tasty enough to warrant the $800- fine he was handed. Click  here  for the story (screenshot below)

Psychology Professor Beats Wife and Locks Son in Dog Crate for Going to the Shops Without Permission

Image
This is John Froiland, he teaches (or rather taught) Educational Psychology 235, Learning and Motivation I have written at a previous time in this blog, " why does this profession attract the nuts? " but this particular situation is in a completely different stratosphere. Apparently, his wife was out shopping and when she returned he lost his mind because he didn't know where she was.  This escalated to him locking his ten year old son in a dog crate, ripping the leg off a wooden rocking chair and assaulting his wife with it. He then confiscated her phone in order to prevent interaction with the police. He was arrested on numerous charges and made bail which was set at a measly $500-. He has also been banned from the campus at which he taught for a year. (information gleaned from  The Exponent ) For further details -  Part One ,  Part Two  and  Part Three

Pre-Flight Nerves? Get Drunk!

Image
The last thing you need when cramped in an enclosed space for several hours is some drunken buffoon sharing uninteresting tales about themselves, snoring loudly or caterwauling away tunelessly to some dreadful pop hit. Am I right? I've come across an article  extolling the advantages of being a drunkard when in the process of using an aircraft (and how to disguise the resulting drunkenness). I guess some folks need to drink to be around other people for extended periods of time. We are in the twenty-first century. I know this piece was written partly in jest (and far be it for me to criticise as I am far from perfect myself) but when hearing of horror stories like  this from 2019 , I'm left feeling slightly bemused.
