Artificial Interconnection, A.D. 2025

Artificial Intelligence. It's where it's at, the kids all say. Where exactly though, remains a mystery. What is certain, however, is that the application is set to become de rigueur when it comes to the latest and upcoming smartphone models. There is no escaping it. I actually received another annoying piece of correspondence from Telstra reminding me to upgrade - time is running out, after all. dead phone walking When it comes to artificial intelligence technology, where are we being led, and what road are we going to be heading down? 3G or not 3G

... that is the question Telstra has asked of me. ( source ) Let me see. I bought my current phone early 2016. Being the rather tight-fisted individual that I am, I was hoping to get at least another 35 years out of it - at the bare minimum. No, not really. Planned obsolescence is very much part of the design when it comes to cell-phones. It's all part of a culture of junk that goes hand-in-hand with our very existence. Excuse me if I come across as pessimistic. Not everything is that way, although one can be forgiven for keeping a jaundiced eye on Telstra, and being wary about this whole switch-over business, when past actions have proven this company to be at times less than reputable. ( source ) Besides, what choice do I have?

The Mighty Telstra

What price connection when your entire existence                                    relies on a cheaply made plastic box? Once again, a faltering signal has disconnected me from the outside world. It's not just the internet. It also affects my landline connection. Completely unusable. If I have to make contact with the outside world, I'll have to use my mobile - which means big bucks for the service provider. These stoppages are becoming more and more frequent. That's what you get when one company monopolises the entire network. Mediocrity (and knowing full well they can get away with it).  Thanks, Telstra!
