Eloi v. Morlock 2020
Beware of individuals who practice fake empathy for monetary gain who will dose you up on soul destroying drugs in order to control you. These creatures are in fact themselves soulless. They are the morlocks of this world. You are the eloi but have the capacity for strength of mind and character as well as physicality. Do not underestimate yourself.
When your mired in depression or your confidence is lacking seeking professional help can be beneficial.
But buyer beware - these places are primarily businesses so the bottom line is their chief concern to turn a profit. In most instances, long term therapy will be recommended whether you really need it or not.
Remember, as you control the purse-strings, you are the master and they are the servant. If they want to schedule you around themselves and not at a time that you find convenient, dump them. They serve you, not the other way around.*
These people can help but do not trust them completely. Their ultimate aim is making money. A part of yourself has to remain detached to view the bigger picture. You can still have a friendly rapport and a lot of the time your condition will improve.
Unfortunately, your perception could be clouded if you've been prescribed and are taking antidepressants.
Remember, these things should only be taken for a limited period.
For about a week to ten days when you first start taking them, you feel incredibly nauseous. You just know it's poison to your system.
Your body is a temple and this crap just doesn't belong there.
Having had some horrible experiences, I am really anti-antidepressant but if there's no other way for you to function (and remember that doesn't make you anything less than the rest of the population if you do), that's okay.
You are a king. You are a queen. You are a human being and deserve to be treated with respect but you also have to learn to stand up, identify and call out the detritus that float among us. They exist but inadvertently they can make us stronger. So, don't ever give up (or give in).
Not all therapists are like what I described in paragraph one. Most aren't. But they are around hence the need for vigilance.
Stay cool.
* of course, there's always room for compromise but don't be pressured into it or feel you have an obligation to do so
